Kano Flooded

Heavy rain that lasted for more than seven hours has caused floods in parts of northern Nigeria's biggest city, Kano.
Several places, including the city's famous Kurmi market and several bus and taxi parks were flooded.

There are no reported deaths but many residents say it was one of the heaviest downpours in recent years.

Ethiopia Muslim leaders sentenced- afrikka gist

A court in Ethiopia has sentenced a group of Muslim leaders, activists and journalists to jail terms of up to 22 years under controversial anti-terrorism legislation. The 18 defendants were convicted last month of charges including terrorism and conspiracy to create an Islamic State.
